Hi! My name is Aaliyah and I am a freshman at Regis Jesuit High School.
Why do I want to be a Girls Hope scholar?
I want to be a Girls Hope scholar because I know this program will help me academically. I normally have my studies and I do it myself. I don’t get help. I try my best and I always achieve my goals but this program offers tutors if I needed it. They help a lot. When I’m at the Boys Hope house during ART (Academic Reflection Time) or “study hall” I get so much help from all the staff and tutors.
I feel like this will be great opportunity for my sister and me. I’ve seen people living terribly, broke and not happy. I don’t want to see myself in 10 or 15 years at a welfare office with kids, no husband, and no way of supporting myself. When I look at my Uncle Kenneth I see him in his house and he has a job and he is living well. I want to be able to have that same life. I know if I want to make it in this world I need to have an education to get a great job. I know this program can help me get to my dream life.
My goals in life are to either be a doctor or lawyer. I want to graduate from high school and college. I hope to see the world, to travel, to meet different people and see different things. I want to live my life to the fullest. I will cross any hurdle thrown at me so I can say “I accomplished that.” I want to have a house, a family, a job, love, happiness, and joy. I don’t want to be unhappy or sad all the time. I haven’t had the best life but my mom does her best. I have seen drug dealers, people on drugs and I’ve always told myself I don’t want be like those people. So a long time ago I made a promise to myself. I would do good in school and be successful. I haven’t broken that promise and don’t plan on breaking it in the future.
Thank you for helping me get my dream life.
