Hope Prep of Detroit at Cristo Rey

Hope Prep of Detroit at Cristo Rey is a comprehensive, academic enrichment program serving youth attending Detroit Cristo Rey High School.  Supported from  high school through college graduation, scholars will follow a strategically developed course of ‘study’ that will ensure academic, emotional and social success beyond their college years. 

Program Elements:

  •  Afterschool Programming
    Supportive, fun and engaging programming designed for personal development and to prepare students for the rigors of college.
  • Academic Support and Development
    Consistent monitoring of academic progress, frequent teacher communication and academic coaching provided to all scholars.  Additionally, scholars will embark on a rigorous program to further develop academic skills and expertise.
  • College Counseling
    All scholars receive assistance with summer enrichment activities to build their college portfolio, college visits, ACT preparation and college and financial aid applications beginning in the ninth grade.
  • Personal Development
    Working with scholars and their families, Boys Hope Girls Hope staff set, measure and reevaluate individualized goals with scholars every sixth months.  Coupled with an engaging Life Skills curriculum, our scholars will develop into capable young people prepared for college and beyond.
  • Enrichment Exposure
    Monthly community service projects, field trips to expose scholars to the city’s cultural gems and assistance finding summer opportunities that emphasize academic enrichment & personal exploration.
  • Scholarship Support
    Scholars will be connected to an international network of fellow scholars and be eligible to apply to college scholarships through Boys Hope Girls Hope.  Scholars will also receive support to identify and apply to thousands of national scholarships.
