BHGH Scholar Michael will be leaving on March 20th on a class trip to Ireland. Michael has worked tirelessly to raise money for this adventure. Many thanks to all of the scholars, board members, committee member and staff for selling candy to help him in his efforts and to the many BHGH supporters who have donated to assist this wonderful young man achieve a dream! Michael will write an article for our next newsletter recapping his journey.
BHGH Poet Courtney has published her first book of poetry. "Inside My Head" started as a poetry assignment in high school. Courtney is an up and coming gifted writer and communicator. The poetry not only narrates the story of her life, but the life of many young African American girls growing up in the inner city and the unique challenges they face. More collegians! Brittany joined four of her BHGH sisters (Ashley, Courtney, LaJoyclynn and Larissa) this year when she entered Clark Atlanta University. Her hard work paid off - she made the Dean's list her first semester!

Boys Hope Girls Hope named charity recipient
of the 7th annual Comerica Charity Golf Outing
on July 11, 2005.
The Detroit Tigers and Boys
Hope Girls Hope have established a partnership. The Tigers
provided us with fundraising tickets to sell to the July 31st commemoration
of the Negro League. Live music, free ball Detroit Stars ball
caps, fireworks, and the Tigers victory over the White Sox, made
this a fun and worthwhile fundraiser!
Boys Hope Girls Hope was designated to received
proceeds from the 6th annual Comerica Charity Golf Outing
on July 12th!
We raffled off two Ryder Cup
tickets at our 14th annual Golf Classic at Birmingham Country Club
on June 7th.
Michael's
poster entry was awarded first
prize among the over 2000 middle school-aged participants in this
year's city-wide Angel's Night Contest.
Boys
Hope Girls Hope of Detroit was presented the Vernice Davis
Anthony's Organizational Award Recipient at the 5th Annual
"Good Grief" Fundraiser & Award Reception hosted by
Open Arms, A Grieving Children's Program, on October 15,
2003.
