| Requirements
- The young man or woman should be between the ages of 10 and 14 years old at time of admission (older students will be considered based on academic record and desire to participate).
- He or she has the academic potential to succeed in a college preparatory
program.
- They must be able to benefit from a long-term, value-centered and nurturing
residential setting.
- He or she does not exhibit serious emotional/behavioral problems and is free of
severe learning disabilities. He or she is not a user of drugs and/or alcohol.
- They have the ability to relate positively with others in a group living situation.
- They understand and accept the expectation of the Boys Hope Girls Hope
program and choose to become a Boys Hope Girls Hope Scholar.
- He or she must want to be a Boys Hope Girls Hope Scholar.
- The family is fully supportive of youth’s participation in the program.
APPLICATION PROCESS
If you know of a child who may benefit by being a part of the Boys Hope Girls Hope
program, please contact our Program Director, Pablo Florez at 702-839-9455. He will
explain the program in detail and discuss the possibility of a scholarship for the
youth. A personal interview will be arranged between the referral agent, Boys Hope
Girls Hope, the youth and their family. After a successful interview, the following is
submitted:
• Application packet
• Academic record and immunizations
• Letter to Board of Directors requesting consideration and why the
youth desires to participate in Boys Hope Girls Hope
• Medical examination is arranged
• Psychological/academic testing is arranged
• Visiting by youth and family to program is arranged
Following testing and visit, the Program Committee, a standing committee of the
Boys Hope Girls Hope Board of Directors, determines a candidate’s acceptance
into the program.
