History of Success

New Orleans became the second city to start a Boys Hope program. New Orleans opened its first Boys Hope home in 1980. The second home was opened in 1984. In the summer of 1999, Boys Hope opened the doors to a new home on the corner of South Carrollton and Banks to replace the original home. These two homes served boys through June of 2002. In July of 2002, the Boys Hope home on Baudin St. underwent some structural and aesthetic changes to accommodate the home for girls. In August of 2002, we opened the GIRLS HOPE home to deserving girls that wanted to make a difference with their life. The opening of this home completed the scope of our care offered to children in the area.

Currently the Boys Hope Girls Hope program provides a stable, loving home environment and a strong academic program for disadvantaged but capable boys and girls. We operate on the principle that we can help young children -- given the chance and proper environment -- develop into strong, contributing members of our society and to become people for others. Boys Hope Girls Hope is an inter-denominational program and welcomes children regardless of their race, creed or religion.

In 2005, we celebrated 25 years of service to the Greater New Orleans community. Below is a collage of individuals that have made our Mission their Mission.

We thank everyone that has provided HOPE for the first 25 years. During the year of our Anniversary Celebration, we toasted the past, honored the current, and aspired for another 25 years of success in providing housing and college-preparatory education for children who want us to have HOPE in them!
