Through the provision of a comprehensive array of services, we strive to supplement the lives of the children we serve, called “scholars,” with the building blocks necessary to help them to create positive, successful future for themselves. At Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York, we provide H.O.P.E.:
Homes
We offer valued-centered and family-style homes in residential neighborhoods. Our scholars follow structured routines of a daily schedule, including hygiene, chores, meals, school and study, play, reflection, and community building activities.
Opportunities
Our scholars are challenged to become mature, healthy, and educated 'persons for others'. They are offered opportunities to nurture and develop their intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. This means extra-curricular activities, enrichment outings, community service projects, structured study times, counseling when needed, weekend worship, jobs, internships, and more.
Parenting
Our Residential Counselors offer positive parenting to our scholars and participatory partnership with their families. Family visits are regularly scheduled, case conferences are held, and major decision-making is done with family participation.
Education
Our scholars attend quality, college-preparatory schools because one of our long-term planning goals for them is a college education. To assist our scholars in reaching this goal, we provide them with supplemental academic assistance in the form of daily tutoring, individualized education plans custom tailored to meet each student’s needs, and a year-round college and career curriculum. Students who complete our program and go on to college receive a partial scholarship towards their education as well as continuing support services.
Our ultimate goal at Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York is to ensure that our scholars become positive statistics – high school graduates, college graduates, and model citizens for others to follow.
