In this time when New Orleans is riddled
with violent crime, there is a grave concern
for inner-city youth. Boys Hope Girls Hope
of Greater New Orleans offers talented
young students living in challenging homes
or neighborhoods a safe haven and a
chance to break the cycle of poverty, earn
a quality education, and overcome the odds.
Boys Hope Girls Hope makes a long-term
commitment to fundamentally changing
a child’s environment from one that is
destructive to one that is positive and
hopeful.
Our biggest challenge is covering the cost
of our Residential Counselors who provide
full-time, 24-hour care for the children that
we serve. Our counselors are the KEY
INGREDIENT for our program’s success.
They provide our scholars with support,
guidance and structure in a caring environment
where each child can be a part of a nurturing
family.
Our residential counselors serve the scholars by
fulfilling the following essential parenting tasks:
• Caretaker
• Creating a safe, nurturing home
environment
• Homework assistance
• Assisting scholar growth – emotional,
spiritual and academic
• Providing transportation to school,
family visits, and extra-curricular activities
• Snapping pictures, baking birthday
cakes, and attending parent-teacher
conferences
