At Boys Hope Girls Hope of Southern California we are currently searching for a new, AmeriCorp Academic Support Corp (ASC). This position works directly with our scholars for their academic achievement. Check out the brief description below:

AmeriCorps Academic Support Corps

 
Academic Support Corps members live and work with the youth they serve in our organization and help form a home like atmosphere. The focus of the Corps is on educational support and academic success.
Members help with instructional support, including tutoring or monitoring study time, collaborating with tutors, and developing/monitoring academic improvement plans. In addition they create stronger bonds with schools (attending parent/teacher meetings, open houses, communicating with teachers, promoting intellectual enrichment, planning essential experiences, implement community service activities, assess learning styles, and support the functioning of the home (assist with daily activities that may include cooking, driving and supervision of the scholars in the program.
 
The position does require living in the home with the youths so be sure you can make that commitment before applying. Room and board are provided. The AmeriCorps Education award is available after successful completion of the 12 months service. Health Coverage and a bi-weekly stipend of $150 are also included. Requirements are at least 21 years of age and a minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
