While it is the primary responsibility of administration and residential staff to build genuine, healthy human relationships with each child, community volunteers bring a wealth of gifts to share with each child. In doing so, they increase the effectiveness of our program. Below are some examples of volunteer opportunities with BHGH STL:

    • Administrative Volunteer - anyone who helps with routine office tasks or development activities. Examples include fundraising, special events, Board or Program Committee members, administrative support and seasonal tasks.
    • Program Volunteer - anyone who performs program-related services or helps with tasks around the house such as cooking dinner (also known as Meal Moms), helping with and teaching scholars about the maintenance of the home (including gardening).
    • Youth Volunteer - anyone who works directly with the children, either one-on-one or in groups. Examples include mentors, tutors, babysitters, respite providers, field trip chaperones, etc.

The first steps to becoming a Boys Hope Girls Hope Volunteer are filling out a Volunteer Interest Form and attending a Volunteer Training! All BHGH Volunteers must go through Volunteer Training, depending on your intended volunteer role.
The next training is scheduled for:
Wednesday, June 8, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Please RSVP to Caitlin, our Community Resource Coordinator, cbone@bhgh.org

*Each Boys Hope Girls Hope child has been entrusted to us by his/her parent/guardian. In consideration of this most important responsibility, it is essential and non-negotiable that each community volunteer be screened according to specific guidelines.
